Books to Read this Summer

My undying love for Young Adult books now reached The Touch of Yellow. This is not out of nowhere, gals, because I have been planning to feature books here since forever! And now that summer already started, and you find yourself at the beach without any mobile signal, bringing a book with you is the greatest internet alternative. So yeah, I have here a few book recommendations that are perfect to read this summer. Let’s start with..

Snow Like Ashes Series
If you’re into fantasy, then this one is for you. Snow Like Ashes has the most unexpected twist ever! And isn’t the title itself makes it suitable to read this summer? Snow Like Ashes is about Meira. Meira is an orphan. She is a Winteranian. The Kingdom of Winter was conquered and its citizens enslaved, leaving them without magic or a monarch. She is in love with her best friend who also happens to be the future king of Winter. Meira would do anything to matter, to help her kingdom rise to power again. She is not just an orphan girl longing for love – she is a warrior, a hero. But the twists of events leave her wondering what truly her destiny is.

The Siren
The cover is enough for me to choose The Siren as one of the books to read this summer. It may be a little slow at first, but it will be good as the story goes on. It’s about Kahlen, a Siren. She serves the ocean using her voice – it is very powerful that anyone who will hear it is as good as dead. But when Akinli, a human, enters her world, she can't bring herself to live by the rules anymore. Suddenly the life she's been waiting for doesn't seem nearly as important as the one she's living now.

Dorothy Must Die Series
Got no summer vacation plans? Well, the Dorothy Must Die series will take you to a whole new Kingdom of Oz! Imagining the Yellow Brick Road and the Emerald City gives me the summer-vibes. This time, though, the Oz is different. The yellow brick road is crumbling, the Good Witches can’t be trusted, and the Wicked Witches may just be the good guys. The then-hero Dorothy Gale is now the enemy. She came back to Oz and wants the magic all to herself because, well, she saved the kingdom after all. Little did she know is that there is a new girl from Kansas, Amy Gumm, and the Wicked Witches are there to train her to fight. And kill Dorothy.

Sweet Temptation / Sweet Trilogy
An extra book from the perspective of the bad boy, Kaidan Rowe? Why not?! If you haven’t read The Sweet Trilogy yet, then you better should. The trilogy is about the sons and daughters of fallen angels. Tenderhearted Southern girl Anna Whitt was born with the sixth sense to see and feel the emotions of other people. She's aware of a struggle within herself, an inexplicable pull toward danger, but it isn't until she turns sixteen and meets the alluring Kaidan Rowe that she discovers her terrifying heritage and her willpower is put to the test. He's the boy your daddy warned you about. If only someone had warned Anna.

The Great Hunt
I haven’t read this book yet. But come on, a book inspired by the Grimm Brothers’ tale “The Singing Bone”? I am so in! Totally adding it to my TBR list.

Do you have a book that you’d like to read this summer? I would love to hear some recommendations from you. J
