I remember the time when I was a child and
role-playing. Back then, I had this plastic-made arrows and bow and I was cupid
and my friends were the couples. I didn't have any idea how to properly shoot
an arrow or even use a bow until I was given the chance to play a real-life
archer at the Kondada Archery Range. To familiarize yourself with Kondada Archery Range, here's a small introduction about them.
KODANDA[ko*dan*da] Sanskrit - He who has a bow.
Kodanda Archery Range is a seven-lane, fully-air conditioned indoor archery range located on the Upper Basement of Makati Cinema Square, Chino Roces Avenue (formerly Pasong Tamo), Makati City.
Either you have your own gear and equipment or a newbie, you can still play at Kondanda. They do have expert teachers to teach you the basic archery. Bow, arrow, safety gear, they all have it so, you can just go there with your archery outfit!
Archery was unexpectedly easy (except for the
overweight bow). The Konda Archery Range's instructor will tell you everything
you must and mustn't do while playing. At first I thought: "ooh, this
looks like a very complicated one", but after a few instructions, I was
able to shoot an arrow and made a hit (that wasn't a bull's-eye though).
Chin-up, close your left-eye, pull the bowstring up
to the center of your chin, tie back your hair, and most importantly, wait for
the signal whistle before you shoot. These are just some of the few things to
remember while you are on your RAN-Online's-Archer or maybe Ashe-the-Frost-Archer self. Out of the four of us, I
was the only first-timer. Monica, Mish, and the other Monica have tried archery
at Kondanda before.
I am so proud with this. I was able to hit at least three arrows on the yellow part of the target (so close at bull's-eye!). You can't blame me to the other sablay, I'm nearsighted after all. =P
Also, Kondanda now have their own Archery equipment store where you can buy your own gears and equipment's. If I were to take this sport seriously, I might as well buy my own accessories for the sport. Just thinking about me having my own pink bow and arrow excites me. ^^
What is the benefits of playing Archery?
Although
there isn't a lot of walking or running involved, archery is still a physically
demanding and rewarding sport. Drawing the bowstring places stress on one's
arms, chest, shoulders, and back developing upper body and arm strength with
repetition. Constant practice also helps improve posture, balance, and hand-eye
coordination.
