Picture Perfect with Silkygirl Skin Perfect Liquid Foundation

Lately, I’ve been into something light, fresh, and simple makeup look. A look that I can do within minutes and won’t take too much of my time in the morning before going to work. Thanks for the endless traffic, Manila. I’ve found what I am looking for at Silkygirl Skin Perfect Liquid Foundation.

Silkygirl Skin Perfect Liquid Foundation kinda reminds me of Belo Tinted Sunscreen, only this one has more coverage. This foundation comes in 4 shades that are formulated to suit the skin tone of Asian skin – 01 Light, 02 Natural, 03 Medium, and 04 Tan. The shade that fits my skintone well is 02 Natural. Although I might say that these range of shades are not really that different from each other.

PERFORMANCE
Its lightweightness is probably its best attribute; you won’t even feel that you’re wearing a foundation at all. It’s also not as creamy and almost watery which makes it easier for me who has dry skin to apply and blend it on to my face.

I actually prefer to use this foundation on my daily makeup routine for a seamless and natural look. It has light to medium coverage and is very buildable. It can lessen the visibility of my skin’s red spots without caking. Plus, the finish is semi-matte and looks really nice in photos.

Silkygirl Skin Perfect Liquid Foundation could have been perfect if not for its short longevity. Without primer, this foundation can last for 3 hours on a dry skin. With primer, you can expect an additional 2 hours wear time. The funny thing is, this foundation somehow disappears from my face at the end of the day that when I try to cleans, there’s no residue left on the cotton.

Overall, this foundation isn’t so bad. I honestly like this one. It works and blends well with brush, sponge, or fingers, so the lazy me is happy. And to think that this only retails at Php349, this is definitely a catch.

You can buy Silkygirl Skin Perfect Liquid Foundation in any Watson’s and department stores nationwide.

First Impression on Maybelline FIT Me Collection + Swatches

We’ve asked for it, and now they’re here. Maybelline Fit me! is finally here in thePhilippines! I was lucky enough to be part of the squad who gets to see and try the FitMe! collection. While I don’t have the whole range of the 10 available shades of the foundation, I have here the swatches of FitMe! Matte+Poreless Liquid Foundation, FitMe! Stick Foundation, FitMe! Pressed Powder, and Fit Me Concealer.
Let’s start with FitMe! Matte+Poreless Liquid Foundation – Price: Php399.00
I’m shade #238 Rich Tan. As its name says, this foundation has indeed matte finish, but not matte matte if I may say so. There’s actually dewiness in it that gives this slight glow-y effect. The coverage is medium to heavy depending on the amount you’ll apply and is easily blendable. My skin has become oily (probably due to the weather) and did I mention that I am acidic? No? Now I did. LOL So, if you are acidic like moi, and is interested to try this foundation, you may want to consider getting one that is two shades lighter because this one oxidizes that much. Or maybe it’s just in my case. Consider it still. As for its longevity, I’d say it is average, perhaps 4-5 hours wear time. Again, this may vary from skin type to skin type.

Next is FitMe! Stick Foundation – Price: Php399.00
I’m shade #130 Buff Beige. Now this is my favorite! Maybelline says that this is their first ever powder foundation in stick form; that’s like two-in-one product! You get to have a powder and foundation in one! And folks, their claims are 100% true. This stick foundation is matte in finish, lightweight, easy to blend, and has light to medium coverage like the liquid foundation. I like this better than the liquid foundation because I find it easier to use and blend, and is like my second skin, only better.

FitMe! Pressed Powder – Price: Php399.00
I’m shade #230 Natural Buff. I used have used this one only once or twice, I think. And during those times, I’ve noticed that it works or looks best when used alone than as a setting powder for both foundations. It gives off a nice matte finish and controls the oiliness of the skin for up to 3 hours before needing a touch ups. I’d better use this powder more so I could give better judgments. This is only my first impression, after all.

Lastly, FitMe! Concealer – Price: Php199.00
I’m shade #25 Medium. This I use almost every day due to its lightweight-ness, medium to heavy coverage that does not emphasize the dry patches along my cheeks. I also like using this concealer alone and setting it with powder during my lazy days. It instantly brightens and hides my dark circles without making it look like I am wearing a concealer at all. It gives this natural effect that which I’d love to sport during the days.

Here’s a picture of me taken by Sara Black during the launch event and sporting the FitMe! Stick Foundation, FitMe! Concealer, and FitMe! Pressed Powder.
With all these four FitMe! formats targeting concerns from tone to texture, while leaving you with a
natural finish, there’s no need to settle anymore. Find the perfect fit for you only with FitMe! by
Maybelline New York. Indeed, you can tell the world, “Don’t judge me. Don’t hide me. Don’t change
me. FIT ME!”

L'Oreal Infallible Collection Review & Swatches + Grand Launch Event

It gets tiring when a brand promises a long lasting makeup, but can’t withstand the heat and a long, busy day, right? For someone who barely has time to retouch her makeup, it is an essential to me that I have a long-wearing makeup that stays fresh all day. And I think I finally found the one I’ve been looking for in L’Oreal Infallible collection.

L’Oreal Infallible is a full range of #NeverFail makeup that answers every modern Filipina’s battle cry to fight makeup meltdown with a complete line of long-wearing makeup such as: Infallible 24HR Foundation, Infallible Pro-Matte 16HR Powder, Infallible 10HR Lipstick, and Infallible Pro-Spray & Set Makeup Extender & Setting Spray.

You are lucky today because I’ll be reviewing not one, but four Infallible products!

Price: Php700.00

Price: Php600.00

Price: Php500.00

Price: Php500.00

Performance

Infallible 24HR Foundation

Now that I think about it, this is my first foundation from L’Oreal. And I am glad that I get to try it first because I think I might have found my true foundation love. True to its claims, this foundation is sweat-proof, oil-proof, and transfer proof. I’ve been using it every day since I got my hands on it.

It is lightweight with medium coverage. The shade Golden Beige 140 is the perfect one for my skin tone. One layer is actually enough to provide an even skin tone and seamless and demi-matte finish. I like how it looks very natural on my skin too. It works well with dry skin as long as you keep your face well-moisturized before applying. It also does not accentuate the dry areas of my skin. I suggest applying another layer of the foundation if you want to cover the redness on your skin.

The thing that I am impressed about is its longevity. This foundation can stay fresh for up to 6-7 hours. Expect a little fading on the oily parts of the face, though, like the bridge of the nose, forehead, and chin. But it’s nothing a powder can’t fix. Infallible 24HR Foundation is powered by extreme hold pigments that adhere to skin, and hydrating hyalluron that gives optimum skin comfort.

Infallible Pro-Matte 16HR Powder

Of course the foundation will work best if it is set with Pro-matte 16hr powder. I haven’t used it alone, yet, so I can’t say for sure if it does live up to its claims. But then again, I used this powder to set my foundation enough to give you an insight.

This powder also has lightweight texture. It’s soft and blends evenly onto skin with a makeup brush or the applicator sponge itself. I prefer to use a brush, though. When using on top of a foundation, it works well and doesn’t cake or make it look flat at all. It can absorb excess oil and reduces shine without leaving the skin looking dry. I also noticed that it can look a bit powdery at first, especially when you apply, two or more layers, but settles into a more natural look soon after. The 16HR promise a bit dramatic, but I can vouch that this powder can hold a solid 4-5 hours of shine-free face. After all, you can always go for quick touch-ups.

Infallible 10HR Lipstick

Who doesn’t want a kiss-proof lipstick now that Valentine’s Day is around the corner, right? But L’Oreal Infallible 10HR Lipstick is anything, but kiss-proof. It is, however, food-proof, fade-proof, and dry-proof, sounds too good to be true? Well, it is TRUE!

The Infallible lipsticks have smooth and glides-on-smoothly texture. Packed with Vitamin E, these lipsticks will not let your lips go dry all day. It is much pigmented and the color payoff is just out of this world! The lipstick is also softer and creamier, which I think is the factor that makes it accentuated [if you have] dry and chapped lips so make sure to exfoliate first. The finish is a demi-matte with full coverage and can stay on really well all throughout the day even after meals. It also leaves a stain on the lips after all the lipstick is gone.

Infallible Pro-Spray & Set Makeup Extender & Setting Spray

Most people don’t know what the use of setting sprays is. If the powder sets the foundation, then setting spray basically sets everything up. This lightweight, oil-free spray can be applied after makeup over your face, eyes, and lips to lock in your whole makeup look. It ensures that your makeup stays fresh the entire day, and prevents melting, fading and smudging.

Truth be told, Infallible setting spray indeed adds more time in keeping my makeup intact and fresh all day. But what I really like about this spray is how it makes my whole makeup looking dewy and glowing. I mentioned earlier that the Infallible Pro-matte powder tends to have powdery finish, thanks to this spray; I don’t have to deal with that problem because it essentially helps the powder to settle right into my skin. This setting spray will surely complete your #NeverFail makeup look!

Products used: L'Oreal Infallible 24HR Foundation, Pro-Matte 16HR Powder, 10HR Lipstick in Forever Frappe, and Pro-Spray and Set Makeup Extender & Setting Spray

Before I end this post, here are some of the photos during the grand launching of L’Oreal Infallible happened last January 18 at the Valkyrie Night Club.

Save Yourself From Retouching with Maybelline White Superfresh Cake Powder

One of the things I hate the most is retouching my makeup. The only time I touch my makeup is the time that I do it, after that, nada. That is not because I don’t want to, but because I am lazy to do so. Yeah, laziness is in my blood and I hate that part of myself. Anyway, you might have heard – or even tried using – this cake powder from Maybelline, White Superfresh. I just got my hands on it a few months ago and started using it for like three weeks now. This powder saves me from retouching every minute ever since I opened its box! I may have some issues with it, but nothing major. Why don’t you continue reading to know more, yes?

Maybelline White Superfresh Cake Powder comes in a sleek, white packaging with a built-in mirror and the sponge separated from the powder itself. There is something about the color white that makes anything look elegant and expensive, but this one is far from expensive because it only costs P299.

According to Maybelline, this powder is enriched in Mineral Perlite that is 5X the absorption power of regular talc; it facilitates sweat evaporation with almost zero build up. Long lasting (up to 12HRS fair matte look and fresh feel) matte coverage that instantly whitens and evens skin tone, smoothens and blends away perfection.

Based on some reviews I read before I opened its box is that this powder is not recommended to those with dry skin because of its dry texture. What I do is use a facial mist before applying it over my liquid foundation to make the dry areas of my skin less dry. It works, ladies. I do it with every powder foundation I have especially during those times when I don’t have enough time to do some blending. Also, do not expect that it can cover any redness etc. as it only gives light to medium coverage. And a slight white cast too.

I have the Natural 03 shade and it perfectly matches my skin tone. 03 Natural has a light and warm beige color with yellow undertones. If you are more on the morena side, they have darker shades too, you can choose between Honey 04 and Sand Beige 05. The finish is fresh matte which is probably the reason why it doesn’t work out to the people with dry skin. FYI, you know that part between the cheekbone and nose? That is the dry areas of my face – both sides.

As far as performance is concerned, I’d give Maybelline White Superfresh Cake Powder 4 out of 5 stars. While I didn’t have enough time to prove its 12-HR-of-looking-fresh claim, a 6-hour of freshness without the need to re-apply is still impressive. I love how it control and deal with the excess oil of my skin for several hours and giving me enough time to look fresh without the need to blot every now and then. Its performance is definitely worth more than 299 pesos.

Celeteque 24-hour Photoready Liquid Foundation Review

You can’t always find a foundation with airbrush finish and skin care properties in one product. Now we can. With Celeteque 24-HR Photoready Liquid Foundation, it provides a smooth airbrush finish for 24 hours while concealing dark spots for all skin types. It has micro pigments and silicone elastomers that hide blemishes and dark circles. It’s also has Phytocelltec, a component harnessed from cutting-edge plant cell culture technology that has extensive anti-aging properties, making skin more supple and radiant every day.
I started using this foundation a month ago and I can’t help but fall in love. Packed in a simple squeeze type tube and a metallic box, you won’t probably have thought how good this foundation works.  I don’t usually wear foundations, but Celeteque made me think twice. With its lightweight and non-greasy texture, Celeteque 24-HR Photoready Liquid Foundation is easy to blend into the skin. It is also non-drying and non-scented, making it sensitive-skin friendly.
I like wearing it during school days. You all probably know that I don’t wear too much foundation; a small amount will always do, at least for me because that is what I prefer. Celeteque liquid foundation is so light that I always forget that I am wearing a foundation. It has a light to medium coverage and applies evenly on the skin. The SPF30 is just enough for daily wear.

Please bear with the quality of the photo. It was taken with a low lighting and making my face look pale. But anyway, this foundation matches my skin tone. I have the shade beige; at first I thought that it may be too orange for me, only to find out that it’s just the right shade. It’s a bit orange, but nothing a setting powder can’t handle.

What I also like about this foundation is its semi-matte/power finish. It creates an illusion of a smooth skin. If you notice, I have a slight discoloration around my forehead, it’s a bit darker compared to the rest of my face. Because of the color-correcting pigments of Celeteque foundation, I don’t need to use another product to hide it. See how even my skin looks?

Moisturizing foundations are a big yes to me, and Celeteque did not disappoint. It is moisturizing enough that the dryness of my skin is not that obvious. It can hold up for approximately 5 hours without a primer. Plus, it is a local brand! Who would have thought that we can have such a nice foundation performer? And before you ask, no, this foundation did not break me out.

Review: Sleek Base Duo Kit - Bamboo

During these past few months, I’ve been using a very sheer and light makeup base. Although I have this Sleek Duo Base Kit for a month now, I don’t really use it that much. And after 4 consecutive days of using this duo, I can finally do a review post! I know that some of you requested to review this first, so your wish is my command.

Sleek Duo Base Kit is a two-layer compact of cream foundation and pressed powder. Both layers have their own mirror, but doesn’t have any applicator included – I don’t really mind, though. What disappoints me is how the courier mishandled the package; I thought that mine didn’t have any damage compare to some of my blogger friends who also received a package from Luxola, but after opening the box, I noticed that a small yet important part of the compact is broken. Now, I have to always put this inside the box so it won’t do any more damages because the lock of the compact is now gone. Anyway, I still love the black matte compact and how it can fit in any makeup kit.

There are lots of shades available for this foundation. I am really impressed on how Sleek gives their customer a wide shade selection. Mine is bamboo, and a perfect match to my skin tone!

The cream foundation is very smooth and gives a medium to high coverage. You can either use your fingers or a brush to apply this one. I also find this foundation build-able, which is really good. For me who prefer a light foundation, this is kind of heavy. The finish is matte and smooth.

The pressed powder is also nice. At first I thought that it might be too light on my skin, but it turns out a perfect match for the foundation. The coverage is light-medium and provides a matte and a clean finish. If you’re on your lazy days, you can use the powder alone and still look good!

This Sleek Base Duo Kit doesn’t have any scent. Both the foundation and the powder are a very nice team together (good job, Sleek!). The staying power is pretty decent as it stays on for about 6-8 hours without the need to retouch. If you have an oily skin, I think it’ll stay for 4-5 hours max.

Review: Naturactor Cover Face

Coverage is not my main concern when buying foundation. Just as long as it is light on the skin then I’m good. Yet, I do like to try different kinds of foundations so I don’t ignore those with heavy coverage – although they’re most likely ignored. I have been hearing a lot of good things about Naturactor from my blogger friends. Yet, I still didn’t try it, until now.

A lot of makeup enthusiasts are raving for this product, and now I know why. Naturactor Cover Face can be your concealer-slash-foundation in one. It is a product of Japan and I’ve heard that many celebrities love using this too.

Naturactor Cover Face is packed in a small jar with screw top. It doesn’t have any design on it, just a plain white plastic packaging. You might want to be careful with this one because the container isn’t sturdy and I think that with a single drop of this, it’ll break. Also, since this is a cream type without a pump or anything to dispense the product, I suggest using a brush. Always. Well, you can use your fingers too, but it’s just unhygienic.

For a person who prefers using light foundation like me, Naturactor Cover Face is what we consider heavy. It feels heavy at first, then it’ll become lighter after a few minutes. It doesn’t have any scent at all and a little amount goes a long way too.

I got the shade no. 151 and it perfectly matches my skin tone. It has yellow undertone and blends well on my skin. If you are into coverage, then this is for you. Naturactor has medium to heavy coverage. It has a powdery finish and doesn’t settle in fine lines.

As I mentioned, Naturactor Cover Face is a concealer and a foundation, so if you don’t like putting too much makeup on your face then this is your guy. The staying power is not that great though. For a product with a heavy coverage the longevity isn’t that good. It stays for about 5 hours max with or without primer.

Naturactor Cover Face is a decent concealer foundation. One container can last a lifetime! Have you tried this product?
