Review | The Saem Saemmul Water Candy Tint

I am a MAJOR fan of lip tints! They have the same dramatic effect of lipstick without the mess. You easily and simply grab them from your purse for a quick touch up even without using a mirror to apply it. I could go on forever why lip tint is some sort of God sent to every makeup enthusiast. Not to mention that some of them come in a super cute packaging, like this Saemmul Water Candy Tint of the SAEM.

Product Info:
The SAEM Saemmul Water Candy Tint
Price: PHP210.00 / approx. USD5.00
Where to buy: Available at Althea Korea

Always be mindful of where you will buy this tint because there are already fakes roaming around. I also saw it in Divisoria the last time I was there, selling it less than half of its original price. This product goes into your mouth (one way or another), so be vigilant in buying online. At least Althea Korea offers 100% authentic Korean Cosmetic products.
The name speaks for itself, because Saemmul Water Candy Tint is indeed housed in a candy-like plastic packaging. It’s super cute! You will also see an arrow at the back of the tube, the arrow is pointing to the side to where you will open it. The applicator is a doe - foot shaped with enough length for a precise application.
Performance

I got mine in the Apple shade as I want something vibrant, but not over-the-top color for an everyday wear. Among the five available shades, Apple is the best choice for me. The color is red with a hint of pink. It also insanely tastes like apple too! Seriously. You know that Zesto Apple flavor juice? That juice and this liptint taste exactly the same (except Saemmul Water Candy Tint has a bit of a medicine taste too). Not that I purposely taste the tint, it’s just that whenever I accidentally applied too much product, the tint goes into my mouth automatically. It’s very watery.
The pigment and opacity of this tint are so nice that I don’t need a second layer for a full lip color. Its color payoff shows even with just a little bit of a product. A little goes a really long way. So I think 10g of it will last for at least 3 months with regular usage. I also like to use it as a blush because of its super nice color and natural flush effect. I have to use a sponge to apply it on my cheeks to avoid getting the clown-blush effect, though. Or apply it on my fingers first before dabbing it on my cheeks. Either way works.

Moreover, Saemmul Water Candy Tint dries and sets at least 10 seconds after application. This makes it totally workable and blendable as lip tint or blush. But once it sets, it’ll give you a very nice shade of apple on your lips and cheeks. What’s weird is that it transfers; this is the only tint I have ever tried that transfer to a glass and utensils whenever I eat. This makes its longevity a little less time (3 hours max) than other tints I own. But I’m willing to overlook that issue simply because this tint is so cute! Can’t blame a girl who loves cute stuff. Haha!

My Go-to Lip Tint, Peripera Peri's Tint Water in Pink Juice

I love lip tints; they are my beauty savior in times of laziness. They’re versatile and very handy. They never failed me, not even once. Now, I have a new go-to lip tint, this time it’s from Peripera. I got this from my recent Althea PH haul. Peripera Peri's Tint Water is the first product that I used and it’s also the first thing that I grab every morning, well beside my phone, of course. Who am I kidding, right? LOL Anyway, this is a short review and straight to the point, so read on.

I couldn’t deny how cute the packaging of this tint. Korean cosmetics sure know how to capture every girl’s heart. I added it to my cart without any expectations; I needed a new lip tint that time, after all. Peripera Peri's Tint Water comes in a glass container and is merely the size of my pinky. It kinda reminds me of a nail polish – but cuter.  Because of its small size, I can easily grab and put it in my pocket. The doe foot shaped applicator is also shorter than usual, so far, I did not encounter any problems with it. My only concern is if it will reach the bottom once I have used 75% of the product.

Looking at it through the glass, I thought that it will be much pigmented and a bit creamy. It turns out that it’s actually watery – so watery – that the tint will spill out of the bottle if I accidentally drop it. But that’s fine with me.

Peri's Tint Water in Pink Juice gives a soft pink color to my lips. I achieved that color on my lips (from the photo above) with two layers of it. One layer is not enough to be visible in a photo, that’s how subtle it is. That’s also why I love this lip tint. It gives off the natural pink vibe, making my lips look as naturally kissable without any hint of a makeup. The thing with this tint is it doesn’t stay long, 2-3 hours is its longest staying power, and it transfers easily, which I am curious about because it is a tint, it’s not supposed to transfer, right? Those are the reasons why I can’t call it my favorite. Still, I like the effect it gives and can be used as a blush too, so, I’ll give it a 3.5 ☆/ 5.

How about you, what's your current go-to lip tint?

Quick Review: Holika Holika Waterdrop Tint Stick

There is no doubt that Koreans have some of the best lip tints. As a lip tint lover, I couldn’t resist trying every brand that offers one. This time my new go-to lip tint is from Holika Holika. I bought it last month and it’s been my every day tint since then.

I like my lip tint natural and long lasting, although Holika Holika Waterdrop Tint Stick lacks the latter, I still can’t help but love it. Let me tell you why:

• This tint glides on very smoothly on the lips; it’s almost watery (in consistency).
• The moisturizing power is very impressive. It isn’t called “Waterdrop” for nothing.
• Simple yet there’s something cute with the packaging. The cap has some kind of a lock too, so it won’t come off easily.
• The color, although subtle, still looks lovely and natural.
• It has a fruity scent, but not overwhelming.
• Affordable (Php295.00)

At first I was a little disappointed with the color payoff of this tint because it looks orange than red. But then again, I learned to love it. After all, most of the lip tints from Korea are like this. I just have one problem with this tint – it takes a minute or two to be fully dry and when it’s not dry, it transfers. Other than that, this tint is a nice catch.

What about you? What's your go-to lip product?

Tonymoly Tony Tint Delight Review

Lip tints are my everyday lip color. They’re my best buddies when I wanted to save myself from answering the “Are you sick? You look pale” question. I’ve had my fair share of lip tints, and I can only think of not more than 3 lip tints that didn’t quite work for me, and the rest became my besties. Lip tints became really famous because of the Koreans gradiation lip, no wonder why most of the good tints are Korean brands. One of them is Tonymoly Tony Tint Delight.

It’s been a while since my last Tonymoy product, and after trying Tony Tint Delight, I grabbed two shades almost instantly.
Tonymoly Tony Tint Delight has a slightly chubby tube with a wand doe foot applicator. This is my kind of applicator for tint, liquid lipstick, and lip gloss because you can easily spread the product and fill out your lips for full lip color. Tonymoly’s tint wand is really of high quality.

I picked the shades Red and Cherry Pink. Red is a blood-red shade. While the Cherry Pink has a red undertone that makes it look like red when swatched, however, when applied to the lips, you can see that it is indeed a pink. Both are very pigmented.
The formula is watery, but there’s a slight thickness too. Just be careful when using it, do not apply a huge amount upon application if you don’t want to waste any of the tint. A small amount goes a really long way. If you want to achieve the full lips like my lip swatch, apply at least two layers. The trick is to let the tint get dry first before applying the second coat. The color is really buildable.  Unlike other lip tints, I don’t recommend to use this one on your cheeks. It’s very pigmented and stains real quick -- it will leave a very awkward dot on your cheeks.
By the way, the finish is matte, just like how matte lipsticks look like. However, if you only used a small amount, don’t expect the same result. Also, these tints smell so good! They smell like cherry yet not overwhelming, so expect it to have a little sweet taste too (not that you’ll taste it on purpose, right?).  And boy, it stays all day! Although it’s not as intense as when you first applied it, the stain stays, enough to add color to your face.

Bottom line, Tonymoly Tony Tint Delight is my new HG lip tint. It has a nice color payoff, pigmented, long lasting, cute, and most of all, affordable.
