Inside YesStyle Beauty Box #17 - Skincare Essentials

Phew! That was one busy term at school and I’m glad that it’s finally over! To make up to the lost time, let’s take a look as I unbox and review some of the products included from YesStyle Beauty Box – Skincare Essentials that I got a few weeks back. YSBeautyBox is just like any other subscription box, but without the commitment. The YesStyle team will curate a themed-box, post it on their site along with the products included (both sample and full size) in a discounted price, of course, and it’s up to you if you want to avail the box or not.

Anyway, what I have here with me is the Skincare Essentials edition with 5 sample size and 5 full size products and they are:

1* Agatha Paris Essentiel Skin (sample size)
1* Agatha Paris Essentiel Emulsion (sample size)
1* Etude House AC Clean Up Pink Powder Mask (sample size)
1* Etude House AC Clean Up Toner (sample size)
1* Etude House Honey Cera Cream (sample size)
1* TONYMOLY Panda’s Dream Pocket Lip Balm (full size)
1* RiRe Style Blackhead Brush Cleanser (full size)
1* COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patch (full size)
1* Benton Snail Bee High Content Mask Pack (full size)
1* Smart Hair Mask Magic Steam (full size)

I have yet to try all of it, but I’ll try to do so and post a separate review post about it. For the meantime, here’s a review of TONYMOLY Panda’s Dream Pocket Lip Balm.

No one can argue how cute this lip balm is. It’s Panda for heaven’s sake! The packaging itself is enough for someone to buy and have it for themselves. I like how handy it is and can easily fit in my pocket. I am not a fan of the way I have to get the product, though, as I always have to use my fingers to dip into the product. Using a lip brush would be a bit hassle to apple a lip balm, so I always have to make sure that my fingers are clean before using it – for hygiene purpose. Considering that it’s a lip balm, I did not expect it to be as pigmented. The way it moisturizes and keeps my lips from chapping is enough for me to keep on using it. It does give a nice yet very subtle tint that looks so natural on the lips. After I emptied it out, I’ll surely use it as a keychain.

RiRe Style Blackhead Brush Cleanser, Php437.00
It is never easy to deal with blackheads. I don’t really suffer from it, actually, but I do have big pores to deal with. Normal cleanser won’t do, so I always resort to exfoliators every time the sebum around my nose is giving me a hard time sticking out their heads and ruining my foundation routine. With this brush cleanser, I can now easily clean my nose area, clear out the sebum and smoothing out the surface of my pores. I think the brush is made of silicone that makes it skin-type friendly. To dispense the product, you have to push the button found on the side of the packaging. It took me 5 pumps to finally dispense the product. The upper part of the container where the brush is is detachable so you can wash it after every use.

The cleanser itself comes in a gray-ish color probably because it contains black rice extract, black sesame extract, and black bean extract that help eliminate dead skin, has a calming effect, and gives elasticity to the skin. Use it on a damp skin in order for the cleanser to foam and clean the skin better. It does cleans the pores and removes the sebum quite well, although not completely. My face is smoother and shinier after using it and makes foundation application much easier. Also, it does not dry out my skin (I have dry skin, btw).

As for the products in sample sizes, Etude House Honey Cera Cream, Agatha Paris Essentiel Emulsion, and Etude House AC Clean Up Pink Powder Mask are my favorites. I love keeping them with me at all times, especially during the days when I have to stay at school longer that I should be. They keep my skin well-moisturized and breakout free due to stress and lack of sleep.

To sum it all up, this box has it all to tend all your skincare needs. You can get your own YSBeautyBox through this link for only Php1,917.66 / USD34.93. As far as I know, this box is made especially for those with normal to combination skin, so if you feel like you need a new skincare routine, this is the right box for you!

TonyMoly Red Appletox Honey Cream Review

“An apple a day, keep the doctors away”. Or should it be like this: An appletox a day, keep the dry skin away”? Either is good, yes?

Most of the skincare products were made of lemon extracts, but TonyMoly has been really creative ever since they entered the beauty market – especially when it comes to any fruit-based products. I know, because I have had my fair share of them, from their Tomatox to their Peach hand cream. Feeling like I should try each of their small fruit-skincare collection, I have now their Appletox Honey Cream.

I believe there are two variants of Appletox; the one is a peeling gel, and honey cream – I have the latter, obviously. That is also probably the reason why they named it Red Appletox, to distinguish what is what between the two.
Because of the lack of information on the packaging, I really don’t have any idea what’s in this cream. Like, at all. The sticker under the cute apple container contains writings in Korean (it is the major problems with Korean cosmetics), so it didn’t help. In the end, I have to do some research. Thankfully, I was able to find the list of ingredients online. FYI, knowing what’s in the product you’re using is very important. If it happens that there is an ingredient that’s unfamiliar with you, you’ll know it is the one that caused you to break out.

The product itself is really not that yellow. It’s a little lighter than that, and almost transparent when you scoop it out (it came with a plastic spatula, by the way). Also, it’s definitely not a cream too; it’s more like a gel to me. Red Appletox Honey Cream is sticky when applied onto the face. Yet, the skin absorbs it right up after a couple of minutes. So, I don’t have to deal with a sticky face every now and then. I am not sure if it has a cooling ingredients, but I always find this cream a little cold, it’s barely noticeable, but enough for a girl who grew up in a tropical country to notice. Did I mention how great it smells? Well, if you love apple, you will certainly love this one too. It smells like a freshly cut apples, and that alone is enough to make me feel so refreshed at night.
According to TonyMoly, Red Appletox Honey Cream has an exfoliating component too. That made me confused a little bit at first: if it’s some sort of exfoliator too, is this supposed to be used on a daily basis or just a couple of times a week? I tried using it every day for a week and there wasn’t any problem; I also used it three times a week and still no difference. No breakouts, no anything. I opted to use it as an overnight mask with my current skincare routine (Nature Republic Snail Solution Set) under and the result is simply amazing. I noticed is how my skin glows after I use it. My skin feels like satin after using this cream, no joke!  This also made my foundation easy to apply because of how it makes my skin smoother. It hydrates my skin like I have used three different moisturizers at once! Le skin is always thanking me afterwards. It doesn’t control oiliness, but I think it’ll work just fine for those with oily skin. It’s not that heavy, you’ll simply feel like it is because of the gel-like consistency, but is actually just right.
TonyMoly Red Appletox Honey Cream will surely keep your skin healthy              an           and smells wonderful like a fresh apple.

TonyMoly Petite Cotton BB Cream Delight Review

This review is waaay long overdue. I probably received this TonyMoly Petite Cotton BB Cream delight around three or four months ago. Yeah, I know that was like, forever. Anyway, you have probably seen this BB Cream as one of my beauty favorites and I’m about to tell you why.

TonyMoly Petite Cotton BB Cream Delight is small and handy. It has an easy squeeze tube and dispense the product quite nicely. The packaging is cute too.

This BB cream has whitening, anti-aging, SPF30 PA++ and available in two shades. Mine is Dark Beige. I was a little hesitant when I got this one because it’s been a while since I used a Korean brand BB Cream. It turns out that this one is really good.

Petite Cotton BB Cream Delight has a pink undertone. I was really surprised that this work well for me since any base with pink undertone usually is too light on my skin. TonyMoly must have done something with it, but whatever it is, I love it!
The texture is also perfect, thick and creamy yet easy to spread and blend. It is also not sticky, quite the opposite actually, and dries up quickly after application. I have tried many Korean makeups and it seems like when they say that this BB Cream has a cottony finish, they actually mean powdery. Truth be told, this one does have an amazing cottony finish! Probably one of the best BB Cream with this kind of finish I have ever tried so far. Sometimes I don’t set with powder and it still looks good.
I know that some of you are conscious about the coverage – this one has a good one too. Not light, but also not on the heavy side, it falls in the medium range but can still pass on the no-makeup makeup and also weightless. It doesn’t cake or anything like that. The staying power is about 4-6 hours max, but with the help of setting powder.

Another thing that I love about this BB Cream is how good it looks good in photos!

If I were to rate it, I’d give it a 4.5/5. The missing .5 goes to its longevity, you know how I hate retouching, right? Still, if it can provide me a great selfie, why not? J

Tonymoly Pocket Bunny Sleek Mist Review

Sometimes, you can’t escape the heat, summer or not, here in the Philippines. It’s always there, and it will always be a part of our country, ’weather’ we like it or not – pun intended. What I do to keep myself cool is splashing a water on my face and arms. I can’t always do that, yes? So I depend on facial mist most of the time. In addition, keeping you cool is not just the only thing a facial mist can offer. Just like the Tonymoly Pocket Bunny Sleek Mist.
I don’t know why, but when it comes to Korean brands, I love talking about packagings. Look at how cute this Pocket Bunny Sleek Mist! With the packaging alone, you will be tempted to buy it! It definitely speaks its name, although it quite look like a cat. LOL! But still cute. And it house a rather nice facial mist, so it’s not just a pretty packaging after all.

According to Tonymoly, this mist contains fresh Celtic water purified by several layers of stones with enriched mineral. Hmm… tempting.
The mist has a very nice scent, not fruity or sweet, but a fresh and clean scent, that I can’t really explain. It produces a fine mist that is quite thicker than water; I think there’s an essence in it that makes my skin hydrated and moisturized.

I love using this mist before I do my makeup and whenever I feel like rehydrating my skin. Based on my research, this mist also controls oiliness, although I didn’t really notice any effect every time I spritz it on my face.

Overall, Tonymoly Pocket Bunny Sleek Mist is a good mist. Honestly, I don’t really know what to expect to facial mist, because ever since I knew about their existence, all I use them for is to freshen my face and skin. At any rate, this is so far the nicest one I have tried. And it is cute, so I can use it whenever I want. ^_^

Tonymoly Tony Tint Delight Review

Lip tints are my everyday lip color. They’re my best buddies when I wanted to save myself from answering the “Are you sick? You look pale” question. I’ve had my fair share of lip tints, and I can only think of not more than 3 lip tints that didn’t quite work for me, and the rest became my besties. Lip tints became really famous because of the Koreans gradiation lip, no wonder why most of the good tints are Korean brands. One of them is Tonymoly Tony Tint Delight.

It’s been a while since my last Tonymoy product, and after trying Tony Tint Delight, I grabbed two shades almost instantly.
Tonymoly Tony Tint Delight has a slightly chubby tube with a wand doe foot applicator. This is my kind of applicator for tint, liquid lipstick, and lip gloss because you can easily spread the product and fill out your lips for full lip color. Tonymoly’s tint wand is really of high quality.

I picked the shades Red and Cherry Pink. Red is a blood-red shade. While the Cherry Pink has a red undertone that makes it look like red when swatched, however, when applied to the lips, you can see that it is indeed a pink. Both are very pigmented.
The formula is watery, but there’s a slight thickness too. Just be careful when using it, do not apply a huge amount upon application if you don’t want to waste any of the tint. A small amount goes a really long way. If you want to achieve the full lips like my lip swatch, apply at least two layers. The trick is to let the tint get dry first before applying the second coat. The color is really buildable.  Unlike other lip tints, I don’t recommend to use this one on your cheeks. It’s very pigmented and stains real quick -- it will leave a very awkward dot on your cheeks.
By the way, the finish is matte, just like how matte lipsticks look like. However, if you only used a small amount, don’t expect the same result. Also, these tints smell so good! They smell like cherry yet not overwhelming, so expect it to have a little sweet taste too (not that you’ll taste it on purpose, right?).  And boy, it stays all day! Although it’s not as intense as when you first applied it, the stain stays, enough to add color to your face.

Bottom line, Tonymoly Tony Tint Delight is my new HG lip tint. It has a nice color payoff, pigmented, long lasting, cute, and most of all, affordable.
