Holika Holika Magic Pole Eyeliner 2x Review

This has been the most requested product review from my Althea PH haul, so here it is. You have no idea how excited I was when I added it in my shopping cart! Holika Holika Magic Pole Eyeliner 2x is not your usual pen eyeliner – it has a circular tip, but that's the essence of the Magic Pole line. This line was inspired with magic wands, hence the round tip.

A lot of you might ask if this product can draw a precise and pointed line. Well, yes, it can, however, it may take a few tries to perfect it. The tip is quite chubby so the line it gives is thick. But I think that’s what this eyeliner is for, to provide 2x thick lines and to have a bigger-eye effect. If you will use it to make winged eyeliner, I don’t recommend it, especially if you are a beginner. But if your goal is to make your eyes look bigger, then go for it.

I was surprised by how pigmented and black this eyeliner is. It has a good color payoff and continuous flow of the product to its tip. Holika Holika Magic Pole Eyeliner 2x is also water resistant, can be removed with water, and doesn’t give me a panda eyes even if I accidentally rubbed my eyes. I used it before when I was at the beach and was surprised to see that it is still intact after I swam for a couple of hours. There may be a little bit of smudge, but it’s hardly noticeable. As for its longevity, I’d say it can stay all day, I swear, and the color will not fade at all – still as black as it could be.

If I were to rate this eyeliner, I’d give it a 4.5 / 5. You’ll probably see it in my future favorite post. With its bold and easy grip, I love to use it every day. It may take an effort (and patience) to draw a fine line, but you can always work it out. Overall, this eyeliner is great. The performance is great and the color is great. And truth be told, it did make my eyes look bigger.

Best Pen Eyeliners for Beginners

 Disclosure: This is not a sponsored post. I am not affiliated with the brands that are mentioned in this post.

Creating perfect winged eyeliner can be a little tricky. It takes time, practice, and most especially, patience. Cat eyeliner has always been part of my everyday makeup routine. I am no expert, but I got the hang of it. I have my own ways and tricks for a less time consuming winged eyeliner – let’s save that for later (or one full post dedicated to it, perhaps?).

The first thing you should consider to achieve that even, and perfect winged eyeliner is the eyeliner itself. Pen eyeliners have been available in the beauty market for quite a long time now. They’re easy to use and come with their own styles and tips. Pen eyeliners give an easy grip to the user and making it easier to line the eyes. Your eyeliner shouldn’t be expensive (surprise!). As a matter of fact, there are lots of affordable brands out there that works really great. And I thought I should share with you the best and cheap pen eyeliners every beginner should posses.

 Etude House Drawing Show Brush Liner, Php548.00

 Pink Sugar, Honey I’m Good Eye Liner Duo, Php349.00
 Essence, Good Girl Bad Girl Multi Style Eyeliner Pen, Php199.00
K-Palette 1 Day Tattoo Real Lasting Eyeliner, Php795.00

I didn’t go much into detail of the eyeliners, because I will only say the same thing. All four of them can give you a precise line and define the eyes well. They are all long-wearing and water-resistant. The one from Etude House and K-Palette have something in common; they have the same type of brush, which is a little soft and pointed. While the one from Pink Sugar and Essence has hard brushes. Be it thin or dramatic look, these eyeliners can help you do it with lesser effort. More practice with any of these eyeliners and you’ll be winging your eyeliner in no time!

Heroine Make Impact Liquid Eyeliner Review

It’s been forever since my last liquid eyeliner. The moment I knew about the existence of pen liners, it’s the only thing I use. I even snobbed gel liners! When I got my hands on this Heroine Make Impact Liquid Eyeliner, every liquid eyeliners that I have tried before flooded my memory. Okay, maybe that’s an exaggeration.
This is the eyeliner that I have been reaching for daily use. It has a soft, fine brush that will make any eyeliner style application easier. Beginners might have a little problem with control over the applicator because the brush is a little longer than normal liquid liners. You’ll get the hang of it if you practice. Trust me. With its fine brush, I can easily do a winged eyeliner and haven’t had any problem with the brush shedding.

Heroine Make Impact Liquid Eyeliner is a full, rich black and is very pigmented. Plus, the finish is matte and it looks amazing! The perfect eyeliner to use for any dramatic look. It’s as if you used gel eyeliner. See my swatches below:
As much as I wanted this eyeliner to be perfect, I couldn’t. It’s not smudge proof and I did notice it transferring to my lower lids, it’s barely noticeable, though. Nonetheless, this one’s waterproof and needed the help of your favorite makeup remover. What I do to avoid the smearing/smudging is to set it with a black eyeshadow or apply my smudge proof eyeliner on top of it.

Smudging aside, it does stays all day without fading or flaking – that is if you can avoid not rubbing your eyes. It also dries up real quick so you don’t have to keep your eyes closed until it does. I have oily eyelids, and there are times when I think that it is the reason of the smudging. So if you have the same eyelids condition as mine, then I recommend you use an eye primer first.

Overall, despite the transferring and a bit of smudging, I still love this Heroine Make Impact Liquid Eyeliner. I can create the sharpest winged eyeliner with this one and the finish is just great. I can always remove the transferring on my lower lid and I can always avoid rubbing my eyes. And that’s what love is all about. Peace out.

Review: K-Palette 1Day Tattoo Set (Real Lasting Eyeliner & Volume Curl Mascara)

 One day tattoo sounds really nice, yes? Especially if you’re an eyeliner enthusiast like me. I like my eyeliner as long lasting as possible, and since I’m learning to love mascara, it should be long-lasting too. But seriously, a 1-day tattoo eyeliner and mascara in one set? That’s a different story! Just like my K-Palette Limited Edition 1Day Tattoo Set.
 K-Palette 1Day Tattoo Set includes: 1 K-Palette Real Lasting Eyeliner in Black, and 1 K-Palette Volume Curl Mascara also in Black. I’ve heard so many good things about this brand, and you’ll be reading another one today, this time, from yours truly.

There’s nothing special with the packagings of K-Palette. All of their products come in a very simple and eye-catchy designs. Let me first tell you about the K-Palette Volume Curl Mascara.
 Volume Curl Mascara has a curved and slim wand with small bristles. I like how it deposit the right amount of mascara on to my lashes and separates them. Because of the curved style of the wand, it gives a fanned-out curl lashes.
The mascara is really easy to work with. It can give your lashes deeper and darker hue because of the jet-black color of it. It’s very black that sometime, I don’t feel the need to tightline my eyes. I use it everyday, and for me, I layer is enough. If you prefer a much dramatic look, just go ahead and apply more layers. I tried to apply at least 3-layers and it feels really heavy. In my picture below, I applied 2-layers of mascara, and as you can see, it has a very nice volume already. No clumping, flaking, and smudging that I encountered with this mascara. Plus, it stays all day!
 This has a waterproof but washable formula, so your lashes are free from breakage everytime you get it off. Another thing that I like about this mascara is that every time that I remove it, the smudge on my lower lid is very minimal.
~~~~~~~~~~~
 K-Palette Real Lasting Eyeliner is just your typical pen eyeliner; this is very similar to my Etude House Drawing Show Brush Liner. The eyeliner has precise nylon felt tip, which you can easily use to line your eyes.
The eyeliner’s color is super black, however, because of the very thin tip of the eyeliner, you can’t get much product in one go so you have to apply another layer to make it more visible. But yes, this eyeliner has a super black color and is very opaque. I find it easy to use, especially when doing a winged eyeliner.
It stays all day without smudging. It has the same formula with the mascara which is waterproof, but washable with water.
You can buy this at Luxola and use my discount code BLX-YELLOW to receive a 15% off on your orders.
What's your current eyeliner and mascara? :)
With lots of love,
Review: Etude House Easy & Quick Pen Liner - BK801 Black
When it comes to eyeliner, we prefer the ones that are easy and quick to use – the type that we can easily use to draw the winged eyeliner. I have tried a numerous type of eyeliners; gel, liquid, and pen liners. But this is my first time trying something like Etude House’s Easy & Quick Pen Liner and it’s surprisingly nice.
Easy & Quick Pen Liner is my third eyeliner from Etude House. It only has one shade available which is BK801 – Black. This eyeliner is different from any other eyeliners of Etude House. Etude House Easy & Quick Pen Liner has a 2mm nib and it looks exactly like a small marker pen.
Of course the packaging is cute and all, you’ll actually think that it is indeed a pen – especially if you accidentally placed it together with your other pens lol. The tip is circular and stiff, so you will definitely have a trouble drawing a very thin line at first. You just have to keep on practicing.
It gives a bold black color in one swipe. This pen liner glides on smoothly and you can quickly draw a line, however you have to be careful if you want winged eyeliner and you’re using this one, because the tip is not so friendly when it comes to getting a sharp edge.  Etude House Easy & Quick Pen Liner is perfect for a dark, dramatic, bold eye makeup looks – it has a nice pigmentation after all.
Once it dries, it settles all day – no bleeding issue plus it's water-resistant too. Just take note that this is water-resistant and not water-proof, they're different. So you can use a water to remove this one. Anyway, this liner doesn't transfer on the crease, so you don't have to worry about that part.
Overall, this is a nice eyeliner. I won’t say that this is my new favorite, but this is my go-to eyeliner these past few weeks. It’s very opaque and is perfect to use for smoky eye looks or any dramatic ones. The staying power is impressive and very easy and quick to use indeed. Plus it is so cute!
I recommend this pen liner especially to beginners. I once tried this to draw a tattoo to my cousin and it actually works. LOL
REVIEW | Eyeliner Vintage Sticker
The perfect winged eyeliner, that’s the one that takes all of our time when doing our makeups, yes? It takes a lot of practice to master your dream cat-eyes look. But not this time when there is this product called eyeliner sticker. No more grip problems, though this Eyeliner sticker that I will be featuring has a small detail on it.
What I have here is a set of 4 of Eyeliner Sticker from Bornprettystore. The set includes two designs, an angel’s wing and a swirling something styles, two pairs each.
Before I start saying the good qualities of this product, let me first point out that this Eyeliner Sticker doesn’t have any glue that comes with it (unlike the ones from Etude House). Yes, you can still use it despite of that, yet, expect that the tip part of this Eyeliner sticker might easily detach from the inner eyelids. Another problem is that, well, it does not stick to well on my lids, or maybe because my lids are just too oily? Anyway, I don’t recommend using it under eyeshadow, I swear, it won’t stick at all.
Also, the eyeliner stickers are plastic! Plus, there’s this transparent bleeding part that is so obvious to the eyes. It doesn’t look good at all. My eyes are small and these stickers just don’t exactly fit my eyes and that makes it really difficult for me to put on. Or maybe I just don’t know how to properly use it? ^^
Now, for the good side of this eyeliner sticker, the designs sure are pretty. I began to think that maybe I just chose the wrong design for me. It’s really perfect for a photoshoot and to add a little more dramatic effect on your makeup. However, using this kind of eyeliner sticker might take too much effort to apply it to the eyes properly – let’s leave it in the hands of the professionals.
Since you can only get it for as cheap as 3 dollars, then, don’t expect much from it. Now, I should have really chosen that design no. 5 instead of this. I know for sure that that design will probably work better on my eyes than this one. J
REVIEW | Colorful Charming Liquid Eyeliner
Did I tell you before that I am into color make-ups lately? I think I did, right? Anyway, Born Pretty Store gave me an opportunity to try two of their newest liquid eyeliners, they let me choose what colors I want and I came up with blue & green. To be honest, I'm not quite sure what the brand of this eyeliner but it must be Music Flower, never mind though.
Having colorful eyeliners is such a very good idea, why? - Because it'll save you time as it will be your eyeliner and at the same time eyeshadow. Back in high school, I used to wear this kind of eyeliners; purple, blue and even yellow. Then suddenly I came tired of it and stick with black and now back with colorful again. Let's see if these liners will reach my expectations.
 PRODUCT INFO:
Name: Colorful Charming Liquid Eyeliner
Net Wt: 4ml
Available in 5 colors
Price: USD4.99
Where to Buy: Born Pretty Store
PACKAGING: The eyeliners come in a very simple matte plastic packaging. You can easily know what shade you are getting because the color of the tube is the same as its shade. Its handle is pretty long so you can really have a nice grip on it while applying and has a felt tip applicator. When I first tried it I noticed that the tip is so hard and pointed and it is not good at all, it's very stiff that it might hurt your eye while applying. Seriously, I almost got my left eye hurt. So what I did was continues stroke on the back of my hand until the tip became soft. Thankfully after that I don't have any problem applying it.
 SWATCH: The blue one has a nice pigment compare to the green in which I have to re-apply it in order to build up the color. It also has a runny consistency which is way not good for a eyeliner, it's like they put a bunch of water in it. This eyeliner has a noticeable scent but bearable, I can't describe what it smells like but there is certainly is!
 Is it smudge-proof? -Yes, it is. I did not expect it to be though. And no matter how harsh you'll rub it, it'll definitely stay as it is.
Water-proof? Impressively, a yes also. It will stay put on your eyes even if it rains or you cry but remember not to rub it when wet because it will come off easily. :)
 VERDICT: These liquid eyeliners did a good job! They look good when worn and will really compliment your eyes. I have a natural dark brown eye color and whenever I wear these eyeliners it really emphasizes my eye color. You can either wear one color at a time or wear them together. If I'm going to pick one from the two, I will choose the blue, it's nice and vivid, very noticeable too! The green is okay too but I have to put on a number of layers in order to bring out the color. With these, it is fine not to apply an eyeshadow as it will pop your eyes already.
I guess the makers of these eyeliners should improve the consistency and their applicator. Some might find it hard to apply with a very runny consistency and the hard, pointed applicator; they should make it softer to avoid hurting your eyes/skin.
